Hello everyone
I trust everyone had a wonderful weekend. Unfortunately I'm home with suffering from the bug. The weather changes so much I don't know what to wear. I guess I need to put on a coat whenever I go out.
Security has been a concern for many companies. Did you know passwords were costly? It cost companies a average of $150 per year/per employee on passwords. If companies decide to switch over from passwords and use the fingertip security the company would reduce its cost at 90%.
Fingerprint authentication assures only the user can gain access to networks and applications. Using biometric technologies logging on to your computer requires a quick, simple sliding of yiur fingers across a sensor to ensure secure access. The fingerprint security helps maintain security for PC users, a concern especially when confidential data had the potential to be accessed if it is not protected correctly. It restricts users other than those with registered biometrics for that device from accessing the PC, Internet, or files stores on that PC. It also eliminates the need for users to remember different passwords to gain access, saving time and enhancing the user experience.
I order a laptop about two weeks ago, I was so impressed with the feature. I was thrilled I had a way to keep my children off it. I know longer have to worry about them finding my passwords laying around my room. It is just a great feature.

What happened to Microsoft
Hi everyone. I take it everyone had a wonderful weekend. It wasn't too hot or too cool. The weather was beautiful. I had a great time shopping. Now it's back to the books.
Why did Yahoo turn Microsoft down?
Yahoo rejected Microsoft's bid today. Yahoo claims the bid was too low. The board felt like the bid wasn't the best thing for its stockholders. Microsoft believes a combination of the companies would lead to cost savings of a billion dollars per year.
Do you think this is a way for Yahoo to get Microsoft to raise their bid? Yahoo probably won't find another company to bid as much as Microsoft bid. On the other hand Microsoft won't be able to meet its Internet goals by going with another company.
Many people think the deal will go through, they are just going through a process right now. Yahoo wants to see if Microsoft will raise the price. The situation is very difficult for both companies. If Yahoo doesn't take the deal at the price, Microsoft might walk away. Then Yahoo, doesn't want to miss out on the offer if they don't have a back up plan.

Intel's Newest Project
www.nytimes.com
Intel is not standing around waiting to see what their opponents are doing they are working hard on a new processor. The 64-bit Itanium processor will be used in enterprise servers. The new processor has a quad-core design that doubles the performance of systems with Intel's Itanium 9100 dual-core processor. The processor will run up to 2GHz and include the Quickpath Interconnect system architecture with an integrated memory controller for improved communication links between system components. It's designed to support data intensive applications. It will work with Unix, Linux, Windows Server OS software.
It will also include 30MB of on-die cahce. It is targeted at servers running enterprise applications. The system is built on a 2 billion transitor. It will be manufactured using the 65-nanometer process and 32-nanometer for the processor upgrade. Intel is working with Microsoft, Novell/SUSE, Red Hat, Hewlett-Packard and other key OS. It is due for release at the end of theis year.
